Reki Kawahara

Kawahara made his debut in 2009 with “Accel World” (published by ASCII Media Work’s Dengeki Bunko) which won the 15th Dengeki Bunko Prize in 2008. Along with “Accel World”, Kawahara’s major hit series, “Sword Art Online” has also been serialized since 2002. Kawahara’s titles took the worldwide fan community by storm and in 2014, the English version of the “Sword Art Online” novels were published in North America and the U.K. and the cumulative sales exceed a million copies! In addition, Kawahara is also working on “The Isolator.” The anime adaptation of “Sword Art Online” was also a major success since its broadcast in Japan in 2012 and became an instant hit. The English dubbed version of the series was also received extremely well by fans in the U.S. and saw its cable television debut in 2013 on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block. This is Kawahara’s second visit to Sakura Con where he will promote his newest project, “Sword Art Online the Movie.”
