Team Sakura, formerly Tour Otaku, was originally formed in an effort to publicize Sakura-Con within the fan community. Its members could be found at conventions across the Northwest handing out fliers, recruiting dealers, and generally getting the word out about the Northwest’s premier Anime convention.
Team Sakura has expanded its role and become actively involved with the larger fan community. Team Sakura is still publicizing Sakura-Con, but it is now also about supporting fellow non-profit cultural events by announcing them to our members and in some cases collaborating with them as participants and/or sponsors.
By increasing our role at cultural and community events, and other fan conventions, an addition to anime-specific events, we are more fully honoring the Asia Northwest Cultural and Education Association‘s mission as well as more effectively promoting Sakura-Con.

Dragonfest July 11th and 12th, 2015 Cosplay Contest!
McDonald’s presents, with the Chinatown-International Business District, Dragonfest 2015; happening in the heart of Seattle’s historic Chinatown-International District!
Team Sakura will have a booth selling discounted memberships. We will also present a Cosplay Costume Contest on the Dragonfest main stage. To participate, just come to our booth to sign up before 2:00pm on Sunday, July 12th. The contest will run from 4:30-6:00pm that same day!
Prizes include complimentary memberships for 2016! Please be sure your costumes are appropriate for this family event-the same costume policies apply as at Sakura-Con.

Bon Odori Festival July 18 and 19th, 2015
Hosted by the Seattle Buddhist Church and also known as “Obon” Bon Odori is a traditional summer festival for honoring ancestors. This is a Team Sakura recommended event. Partcipants often wear kimono, yukata or happi coats. Come join in traditional dances, Japanese food and view exhibits from local non-profit organizations. Chinatown Seafair Parade July 19th, 2015
Cosplay parade! Remember to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Our precise parade start location will be posted as soon as we have it.
Time: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Kumoricon 2015 September 4th-7th, 2015
Kumoricon is “the anime convention on the Columbia River” and a fan favorite. Team Sakura will have a booth on Friday and Saturday of this event. Be sure to stop by and say “hello”. Memberships will be on sale for $5.00 off the online price.

Aki Matsuri 2015 September 12th and 13th
Presented by the 501c3 non-profit ENMA, Aki Matsuri is one of the best authentic Japanese Festivals in the Pacific Northwest!
